Craps
Craps is the most exciting and fastest moving game offered in the casino. In modern craps games, there are more betting options and ways to win than in all of the other casino games combined. Here are some basics to get you started.
The Game One Player will be designated as the Shooter and rolls the dice. The first roll is known as the Come Out Roll. If the numbers 2,3,7,11 or 12 are rolled, the game ends here, with bets paid and collected according to the different betting options shown below.
If any other number comes up (4,5,6,8,9,10), it becomes the Pass Line Point. The Dealer will mark the Point with a white Puck, and the game will continue until either the Point number is repeated ("the Point is made") or a 7 is rolled ("Sevens Out"). The Shooter continues to roll the dice until he Sevens Out, whereupon the dice pass on to the next Player.
Betting the Pass Line If you place a bet on the Pass Line and the Come Out Roll is a 7 or 11, you win automatically. If a 2, 3, or 12 are rolled, you lose ("Crap Out"). If a Point is established, Pass Line bets win if the Shooter rolls the Point before rolling a 7, but loses if a 7 is rolled before the Point is made. Once a Pass Line bet is made, it cannot be picked up until a win or lose decision is reached. You can add to your bet, but you cannot reduce it.
Don't Pass Line The Don't Pass Line bet is the reverse of the Pass Line bet. This bet wins if the Come Out Roll is a 2 or 3 (12 is a "standoff" - no one wins), and loses if a 7 or 11 is rolled. If a Point is established, a 7 must be rolled before the Point is made. The bet is for even money. Don't Pass Line bets cannot be placed or increased after the Point is established, but may be removed or decreased.
Come Bet A player may elect to make a wager in addition to the original or flat bet any time after the Point is established. A player may take odds on any Pass Line or Come bet. A player also may lay odds on any Don't Pass or Don't Come bet. The amount required to lay odds are determined by the ways the Point can roll in comparison to a 7.
All odd bets may be removed or decreased at any time. Odds are paid based on true odds and win if the flat bet wins and vice versa. Payoffs are: 2-1 on the 4 and 10, 3-2 on the 5 and 9, and 6-5 on the 6 and 8.
